Pokemon Scorched Silver is a completed GBA ROM hack by creator Sloo, built on the Pokeemerald Expansion and based on Pokemon Emerald. Set 20 years after the events of Gold and Silver, it takes you back to Johto with a brand new story, a new antagonist group called Team Phoenix, over 750 Pokemon from Gen 1 through 8, and post-game Mega Evolutions. It starts you in Cherrygrove City instead of New Bark Town, and it is one of the most complete and polished Johto-based fan hacks available right now.

Gym Leader Level Guide
Pokemon Scorched Silver has a moderate difficulty curve. Gym leaders use setup moves and hold items, so knowing the level caps will help you pace your team correctly:
| Gym | Leader | Recommended Level Cap |
|---|---|---|
| 1st Gym | Falkner | ~14 |
| 2nd Gym | Bugsy | ~20 |
| 3rd Gym | Whitney | ~28 |
| 4th Gym | Morty | ~36 |
| 5th Gym | Chuck | ~42 |
| 6th Gym | Jasmine | ~47 |
| 7th Gym | Pryce | ~52 |
| 8th Gym | Clair | ~62 |
| Elite Four | — | 68–71 |
| Champion | — | ~72 |
Tip: Wild Pokemon levels were raised in v1.2 to make grinding between gyms easier. If the 2nd gym feels rough, try training on the routes east of Azalea Town.

- PC / Mac: mGBA 0.10 — the most stable option, handles all features correctly
- Android: Pizzaboy GBA — recommended by the creator Sloo for Android devices
- Avoid: VisualBoyAdvance (VBA) and older emulators — these can crash due to expanded engine features
