Pokemon Emerald Crest by Aaghat (ThatSimpleDev) has cheat features built into the game itself: a debug menu, cheat codes hidden in the player’s house, and a Mystery Gift code system. This page explains what the creator has confirmed about each one, and why external GameShark or CodeBreaker lists are not a reliable alternative. For the game itself, see the Pokemon Emerald Crest download and guide.
Current Version
The creator’s itch.io page and project site list v1.0.F (Final Update) as the current release. Everything below applies to that version; several cheat-related bugs were only fixed in late 1.0.9.x builds, so update before troubleshooting.
Debug Menu
The official changelog for v1.0.F says the update “Added a Debug Menu”. The creator’s own pages do not explain how to open it. Release notes quoted on community sites say the menu opens with Start + A, and that a separate battle debug menu opens by pressing Select during a battle. Treat those controls as community-reported until you confirm them in your own game.
Debug tools change game data directly, so save first and keep a backup of your save file before experimenting.
In-Game Cheat Codes
The creator describes “special cheat codes found on items in your own house” as one of the game’s hidden features. The codes themselves are part of the game rather than published on the project pages, so look around your house early in the game. The v1.0.9.9.2 changelog lists a fix for “Mystery Gift, cheat codes, and open world bugs”, so older builds may not accept the codes correctly.
Mystery Gift Codes
According to the creator’s FAQ, Mystery Gift codes are redeemed like this:
- Save your game first.
- Go to the second floor of any Pokemon Center.
- Talk to the man on the left and enter the code, checking that it is typed exactly.
The creator does not publish a list of Mystery Gift codes on the project pages. The creator’s itch.io page links a community Discord, which is the place to ask about current codes rather than copying them from third-party sites.
What Is Confirmed
| Feature | Status | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Debug menu exists (v1.0.F) | Confirmed by the creator | Official changelog |
| Debug controls (Start + A, Select in battle) | Community-reported | Release notes quoted on fan sites |
| Cheat codes on items in your house | Confirmed by the creator | itch.io page |
| How to redeem Mystery Gift codes | Confirmed by the creator | Official FAQ |
| GameShark / CodeBreaker lists | Not verified for v1.0.F | None official |
Do GameShark or CodeBreaker Codes Work?
Not reliably. Emerald Crest is heavily modified, so standard Pokemon Emerald codes do not match it, and community code lists online do not say which version they were tested on. Player reports on those lists are mixed, and none confirm them for v1.0.F. An earlier version of this page listed item-swap codes taken from a 2023 video; we have removed them because they could not be verified for the current release. The built-in debug menu, cheat codes and Mystery Gift system are the reliable options.
