Ephemeral – /ɪˈfem.ər.əl/ – “lasting only for a short time” (adjective)
One day I woke up and joked, “What if Wooper was a tellytubby?”
Seven months, 3 corrupted backups, a few missed dinners, and many tears later, we have Pokémon Ephemerald.
Pokemon Emerald like you’ve never seen it before
Experience the Hoenn region with a unique twist. Pokemon Ephemerald is a complete Regional Forms ROM Hack where you can find 382* brand new Saphosian Forms (sa-pho-sian) from the minds of passionate creators. Every single catchable ‘mon has an all new design, with new types, movepools, abilities and flavors to create a unique experience as if this game came straight out of a parallel universe featuring a Succubus Jynx, a Butterfly Gligar, a Toxic-waste Quilava and many, many more!
The whole rainbow of possibilities
Not only does each Pokemon have a new type combination, every type combination is represented. Pick two types and there will be a family with that type. stone/normal? This is caterpie. poison/soil? Slowpoke is your man. Electric/Fire? I think I hear Tentacool shorting out in the distance. Not only that, all dual types are unique. Everything has a niche because of its type. And of course, there are tons of monotypes for those who don’t want to get stressed. Combine that with the opportunity to obtain trade evolutions and brand new, exciting Legendary Encounters in unique locations in Ephemerald. You can fill your National Dex with Monos the likes of which have never before been seen in Gen 3 land!
Optional bosses with real rewards
Like many modern ROMhacks, there is no EV training in Ephemerald as the opposing Pokemon will not give you any. However, on your travels you will find optional boss battles that will reward you with EV boosting items. They are located between each gym and only fight until you defeat the gym’s next big boss. For casual gamers, these fights are a much-needed help, as they give you a permanent advantage for the rest of the game. For hardcore players, however, it’s a tough decision because is it worth risking your precious teammates in front of the trainers who really don’t hold back?
Freezing frost, toxic chemicals and flimsy metals
If we’re going to play around with guys, why not change the table up a bit too? In the revived Hoenn region. Ice-types have become harder, they are now resistant to water and soil. Poison-types have become extra Poisonous and now hit Dragons super-effectively. And Steel-types are out of the game as they lose their resistances to Dark, Ghost, and Psychic types. So maybe it’s not such a bad thing that your favorite turns into ice/poison as it seems…
