Pokemon Storm Silver is an NDS ROM hack of Pokemon SoulSilver by Drayano. It keeps the original Johto and Kanto adventure but makes all 493 Gen 1–4 Pokémon obtainable, rebuilds trainer teams and raises the difficulty. It was released alongside its twin, Pokemon Sacred Gold (the HeartGold version).

v1.05 is still the latest public release. Drayano announced a ground-up Sacred Gold & Storm Silver v2.0 remake in 2020, but it has not been released on the official thread.
Story
The story of Pokemon Storm Silver is the same as the original Pokemon SoulSilver game. The player character sets out on a journey through the Johto region to collect and train a team of Pokemon, defeat the eight Gym Leaders, and ultimately challenge the Elite Four and Champion to become the best trainer in the region.
Along the way, the player character encounters a variety of characters, including their rival, Team Rocket, and the legendary Pokemon of the region. The story also includes various subplots, such as helping the Kimono Girls, solving mysteries at the Ruins of Alph, and uncovering the story of the legendary Pokemon, Lugia and Ho-Oh.
The maps, storyline and order of main events are unchanged. What changes is who you meet along the way: trainers have new rosters, explained in-game by a “migration wave” of Pokémon from other regions, and the familiar Gym Leaders now field much tougher teams.

Pokemon Storm Silver Gameplay
Pokemon Storm Silver plays like SoulSilver, so the core mechanics are familiar. The difference is in team building and difficulty: almost every Pokémon is available before the first Elite Four battle, you receive the National Dex as soon as you get the Pokédex, and important trainers are built to punish under-prepared teams.
Features
According to Drayano’s official release notes, the main changes are:
- All 493 Pokémon from Generations 1–4 can be obtained in-game. Legendaries are somewhat restricted, but almost everything else is catchable before the Elite Four.
- You get the National Dex together with the Pokédex, so it is easy to track what you have caught.
- Trainers have new rosters with a much wider variety of Pokémon.
- Gym Leaders, the Elite Four and other key trainers use six Pokémon and are significantly harder.
- New optional battles, including Ethan/Lyra, Cynthia and Steven.
- Many Pokémon have updated level-up moves, abilities, experience rates, TM compatibility and even types, largely carried over from Drayano’s Blaze Black & Volt White.
- A “Classic” patch is also available for players who want the new trainers and Pokémon availability without the changes to Pokémon data.

How to play pokemon storm silver on pc?
Drayano distributes Storm Silver as a patch with documentation, not as a ROM. The official route is:
- Get the patch and documentation (Complete or Classic, v1.05) from Drayano’s official thread.
- Apply it to your own clean USA copy of Pokemon SoulSilver. The patch already includes an anti-piracy fix, so it needs an unmodified ROM.
- Open the patched file in a Nintendo DS emulator such as melonDS or DeSmuME.

What is the difference between Sacred Gold and Storm Silver?
They are the same hack by Drayano applied to different base games: Sacred Gold patches HeartGold and Storm Silver patches SoulSilver. Trainers, difficulty and features are shared; there are only minor differences in wild encounters, and all 493 Pokémon are available in both.
Can you complete the Pokédex in Storm Silver?
Yes. All 493 Pokémon from Generations 1–4 can be obtained somewhere in the game, and the National Dex is given to you at the start.
Which ROM do I need for the patch?
